The Prospect Heights Police Department (PHPD) is collecting donations this month for the American Cancer Society's (ACS) Relay for Life. As part of the second annual fundraiser, which helps raise cancer awareness in the community, members of the PHPD will grow out their mustaches and beards through November while collecting donations through ACS Relay for Life events.

Final seed-collection day of year at remnant prairie this weekend
The last seed-collection day of the year at the remnant prairie is Sunday. The Prospect Heights Natural Resources Commission (NRC) Volunteer Work Day runs 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 8 at the remnant prairie, 1535 Abbott Drive in Wheeling. Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants, closed-toe shoes and to dress in layers, as the forecast for Sunday is for cool, brisk weather.

New-sidewalk construction project underway in Prospect Heights
Pedestrian safety is expected to improve with a planned sidewalk installation project along West Willow Road in the City of Prospect Heights. The sidewalk will run from the north side of West Willow Road, from Schoenbeck Road east to Tomah Avenue, and connect with the existing sidewalk in Arlington Heights.
