Pedestrian safety is expected to improve with a planned sidewalk installation project along West Willow Road in the City of Prospect Heights.

The sidewalk will run from the north side of West Willow Road, from Schoenbeck Road east to Tomah Avenue, and connect with the existing sidewalk in Arlington Heights.

After receiving an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) Grant, the project began in mid-October and is expected to be mostly completed by winter.

Residents with personal property in the right-of-way -- such as plants, bushes or lawn ornaments -- should move them immediately.

The project is being conducted by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). The contractor is ALAMP Construction, and the project manager is Gewalt Hamilton Associates.
