The Village of Hanover Park and the Hanover Park Park District have launched a food drive to support local food pantries in four area townships: Hanover Township, Schaumburg Township, Bloomingdale Township, and Wayne Township.
Residents are encouraged to donate non-perishable items at two locations: Village Hall at 2121 W. Lake Street or the Park District building at 1919 Walnut Ave. Donations will be accepted until December 5.
Items most needed by the pantries include canned vegetables, canned tomato products, pasta, ramen noodles, cereal, peanut butter, Hamburger Helper, and paper products.
Those who prefer to give directly to their township’s pantry can find more information on each township’s website:
Bloomingdale Township: www.bloomingdaletownship.com
Hanover Township: www.hanover-township.org
Schaumburg Township: www.schaumburgtownship.org
Wayne Township: www.waynetwp-il.org
According to organizers, townships offer important services such as food assistance programs for residents in need as well as other community support like senior and youth programming and transportation options.
"Townships provide vital support to our community, including food assistance, senior & youth programs, transportation services, welfare services & more," said event organizers.
A map is available for those unsure about which township they live in.
