Prospect Heights Deputy Chief Al Steffen will take Dunne's place as Chief of Police on the same day.

After 30 years with that department and working his way up to Deputy Chief, he took the Police Chief position in Prospect Heights in February 2011.
Steffen has been with the police department for 25 years, since it was formed in 1990. Sergeant Jim Zawlocki will then move up to the Deputy Chief's position. Zawlocki was Prospect Heights' 2015 Officer of the Year.
