The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) recently awarded Prospect Heights, Illinois the GFOA Budget Award.
Receiving the GFOA Budge Award is a significant achievement for the city and the elected officials and staff who prepared the budget.
In addition to the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award presented to the city, City Finance Director Stephanie Hannon received a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation. Hannon and her staff worked long hours to prepare the city budget for fiscal year 2015-2016, following the highest standards of governmental budgeting.
With more than 18,000 members in the U.S. and Canada, the GFOA mission is to enhance and promote professional management of governmental resources. The GFOA assists public finance officials by providing best practice guidance, training opportunities, recognition programs and a variety of publications, including books, ebooks and periodicals. The group also provides consulting services and technical information.
The six annual GFOA recognition awards are the Award Program for Small Government Cash Basis Reports, Canadian Award for Financial Reporting Program, Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program, Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program, Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award Program and Award for Best Practices in School Budgeting.
