A free Wheeling Township seminar on how to appeal a property tax assessment will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 at Saint Alphonsus Liguori Parish, 411 N. Wheeling Road, in Prospect Heights.
Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak, Prospect Heights Mayor Nicholas Helmer and Wheeling Township Assessor Jerry Sadler will lead the hour-long seminar for taxpayers appealing their 2015 property tax assessments. The seminar also will educate homeowners on factors that lead to property taxes rising when the value of the house has dropped.
Staff from the Board of Review will be present to answer questions and hear taxpayers' concerns. Taxpayers should bring their latest tax bills.
Taxpayers who wish to appeal tax bills can pick up appeal forms at the Board of Review, 118 N. Clark Street, Room 601, in Chicago, or at 2121 Euclid Ave., Room 237, in Rolling Meadows. To file an appeal online, go to the Board of Review website. Appealing a property tax bill is free.
