Boil water alert issued in Prospect Heights

Prospect Heights, Illinois issued a boil water alert today due to maintenance work.

Illinois American Water is scheduled to replace a service line valve for 540 N. Milwaukee Rd. The water will be off from from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. After the maintenance work is performed and when the water is turned back on, residents are advised to boil the water used for drinking, brushing teeth, cooking or washing fruits and vegetables. The water must be brought to a rolling boil and boiled for three to five minutes to ensure that it is safe. Residents can also use bottled water.

The affected areas are 540 N. Milwaukee Ave., 1246 River Rd., 1250 River Rd. and 936 through 940 E. Old Willow Rd.

Residents should continue to boil the water until notified that the tap water is safe for drinking.
