Students, city employees honored at Mount Prospect Village board meeting
The Mount Prospect Village board of trustees met on Nov. 3. Sister Cities Commission Chairman Robert Usnik presented an annual report to the board. The commission's activities included fundraisers and a self-financed trip to Sèvres, France. Representatives from Sèvres are planning a trip to the village in 2017.

The Mount Prospect 2016 Easy Park $30 monthly parking permits for Metra parking lots went on sale on Oct. 30. Metra commuter parking lots now offer the Easy Park monthly parking permits as an alternative to the current choices of paying for parking daily with cash or a parking debit card at the automated pay machine.

Mount Prospect curbside loose-leaf pickup runs through Nov. 20
Mount Prospect residents can leave loose leaves at their curbs for pickup through Nov. 20 by Public Works crews. The program is for loose leaves only. Grass clippings and other yard debris will not be picked up. Residents must rake their leaves to the pavement, 1 foot from the curb, the day before their scheduled pickup.

Mount Prospect Board tackles alcohol permits, snow-removal contract
The Village Board met on Oct. 20, with Mayor Arlene Juracek presiding. The first order of business was the Mayor's Report, which included accolades and recognitions. Assistant Village Manager David Strahl was presented with a plaque for 30 years of service.

Officials celebrate new O'Hare runway, air traffic control tower
A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held recently for O’Hare's new Runway 10R/28L and a new south air traffic control tower, attended by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Mount Prospect Mayor Arlene Juracek, Federal Aviation Administration Deputy Administrator Michael Whitaker, Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) Commissioner Ginger Evans and former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood.
