The Mount Prospect Village board of trustees met on Nov. 3.
Sister Cities Commission Chairman Robert Usnik presented an annual report to the board. The commission's activities included fundraisers and a self-financed trip to Sèvres, France. Representatives from Sèvres are planning a trip to the village in 2017.
Proclamations included instituting National French Week, Nov. 4 through 10; Remembrance Day, Nov. 12; and the month of November as Hospice and Palliative Care Month.
The 2015 Fire Prevention Poster and Essay Contest Winners were presented with their awards. First-place winners, from kindergarten through seventh grade, were Hope Garland, Sabrina Jarrett, Natalie Zuber, Natalka Tyrka, John Jackowski, Madison Untiedt, Sara Castronovo and Shannon McGovern. Second-place winners were Andrea Badillo, Grace Jacinto, Emma Dower, Irene Han, Karolina Dabrowski, Pauline Waluszko and Maddie Cowen. Third-place winners were Niya Vetteel, Joe Meyer, Gabriela Tamamidis, Tejasvi Prattipati, Ula Lewinski, Emma Rose Goschy, Bree Fernandez and Dana Ankony.
Employees recognized by the board for their employment anniversaries: Michael Mangiamele for 25 years, James Miller and Richard Christensen for 20 years, Brian Lambel and Mark Nabielec for 15 years and Bryan Loomis, Lloyd Miller, Cory Pikora, Wendy Seleen and Matt Woleben for 10 years of service.
Under New Business, the board approved a facade improvement grant not to exceed $25,000 for BAR 145; an amendment to Chapter 23, Offenses and Miscellaneous Regulations, in regard to the increase in catalytic-converter thefts; and a resolution authorizing the village to amend an agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to fund and build Central Road and Weller Lane pedestrian
