Krishnamoorthi discusses national security and social security concerns

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, who represents Illinois' 8th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of tweets discussing various issues and engagements. Krishnamoorthi, born in New Delhi, India, in 1973, has been serving since 2017 after succeeding Tammy Duckworth. He holds degrees from Princeton University and Harvard University.

On December 9, 2024, Congressman Krishnamoorthi expressed his thoughts on a recent discussion with former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. He highlighted the importance of using economic tools to safeguard the U.S. economy and ensure national security for the country and its allies. "It was great to speak with former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates on Friday about how we can better use the economic tools of U.S. national power to protect the U.S. economy and ensure the safety and security of our country and our allies."

On December 10, 2024, he addressed concerns regarding potential delays in Social Security services for seniors due to Republican considerations. He criticized this possibility as "deeply irresponsible," emphasizing that seniors should not face longer wait times for their Social Security inquiries. "The last thing our seniors deserve is longer wait times for questions about their Social Security. The fact that Republicans are even entertaining this is deeply irresponsible."

Later that day, Congressman Krishnamoorthi shared his enthusiasm for a conversation with MeidasTouch, encouraging followers to watch the full discussion online. "Always great chatting with @MeidasTouch! Check out the full conversation here: https://t.co/TdaVS4k4VD"
