City of Evanston Design & Project Review Committee met Nov. 18.

I. CALL TO ORDER/DECLARATION OF QUORUM, JOHANNA NYDEN, CHAIR

IV. OLD BUSINESS

1. 2715 Hurd Avenue 

Planned Development

Charles Marlas, Kensington School, applies for a Planned Development and Special Use to demolish the existing church and to construct a 2-story, 21,314 square foot Daycare Center-Child. The applicant requests the following site development allowances: 1) Building height of 39’ where 35’ not to exceed 2.5 stories is permitted; 2) Building lot coverage of 32.8% where 30% is permitted; 3) Impervious surface coverage of 73.3% where 45% is permitted; 4) Location of off-street parking within the east interior side yard; and 5) Elimination of the required 10’ wide transition landscape strip along the east property line, in the R1 Single-Family Residential District.

2. 1700 Maple Avenue, 1701 Maple Avenue, and 909 Davis Street

Preliminary/Final Review

McCaffery Interests, applicant, submits for a revised Unified Business Center sign plan for Church Street Plaza Planned Development to include an illuminated channel letter center identification sign, glass facade vinyl graphics, and double faced banners in the RP Research Park District.

V. NEW BUSINESS

1. 1700 Maple Avenue, 1701 Maple Avenue, and 909 Davis Street

Preliminary/Final Review

McCaffery Interests, applicant, submits for a mural and seating improvements at the northwest corner of Maple Avenue and Church Street, Church Street Plaza, in the RP Research Park District

2. 1613 Central Street 

Preliminary/Final Review

Steve Starkman, applicant, submits for permit to install a temporary kiosk to serve as a temporary drive-thru food pick-up, Mustard’s Last Stand, in the B1a Business District and Central Street Overlay District.

3. 1601 Sherman Avenue 

Concept Review

Katie Jahnke Dale, attorney, submits for a facade and interior renovation to the existing 7-story building, in the D2 Downtown Retail Core District.
