III. OLD BUSINESS
1. Hometown Pride Award Recap -
The presentation of the Hometown Pride Awards at the Village Council Meeting went well. While no Commissioners or winners could be present, Elias presented the slide show to the Mayor and Councilmen. The presentation was broadcast on the Village website and the public access television channel.
Certificates for 1st - 3rd place winners and the 1st place winner signs were hand delivered during the week after the Village Council Meeting.
Commissioner Bean requested Commissioners receive hard copies of the entry forms early so they can distribute to homes.
2. Fall Decorating Recap -
With high schools not in session in September and October and with the efforts to host events only if social distancing can be maintained, there will be no Fall Decorating event this year.
The Village has reduced the number of corn stalks installed this year. Elias presented the proposed locations for the corn stalks, with the concentration being in the downtown area. The wagon, clock tower, Village Hall and gateway plaza decorations will remain the same as in past years. The Forestry Division will install all the fall decorations by the end of the week.
3. Scarecrows on Parade Update -
Elias reported 4 scarecrow frames were picked up and an additional 4 frames are still on reserve.
Scarecrow installation will be Saturday, October 3 between 11 and 11:30AM. Commissioners should arrive by 11:30 to judge the entries. Winners will be notified by mail.
4. Distribute Approved 2021 Meeting Calendar -
The 2021 Beautification Commission meeting calendar was distributed. All meetings will be held at Village Hall, meeting room B.
Calendar invites will be sent for the meetings.
