Analysis: Barrington pays $8.95 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Barrington Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 89.6 percent of the $1,733,107 the Barrington Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $8.95 for every $1 from pension members, according to a North Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Barrington contributed $1,552,828 to the fund, which saw a $1,159,606 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $173,326, or 10 percent, in 2018. Another $6,953 came from other unspecified sources.
