Analysis: Des Plaines pays $5.85 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Des Plaines Firefighters' Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 85.3 percent of the $6,025,807 the Des Plaines Firefighters' Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $5.85 for every $1 from pension members, according to a North Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Des Plaines contributed $5,141,314 to the fund, which saw a $247,467 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $878,172, or 14.6 percent, in 2018. Another $6,321 came from other unspecified sources.
