Analysis: Des Plaines pays $5.40 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Des Plaines Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 84.4 percent of the $6,501,403 the Des Plaines Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $5.40 for every $1 from pension members, according to a North Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Des Plaines contributed $5,484,051 to the fund, which saw a $158,685 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $1,015,064, or 15.6 percent, in 2018. Another $2,288 came from other unspecified sources.
