Analysis: Elgin pays $4.44 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Elgin Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 81.2 percent of the $10,593,723 the Elgin Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $4.44 for every $1 from pension members, according to a North Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Elgin contributed $8,604,338 to the fund, which saw a $209,298 decrease in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $1,936,667, or 18.3 percent, in 2018. Another $52,718 came from other unspecified sources.
