Analysis: Wheeling pays $3.49 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Wheeling Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 78.2 percent of the $2,513,422 the Wheeling Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $3.49 for every $1 from pension members, according to a North Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Wheeling contributed $1,964,794 to the fund, which saw a $105,595 decrease in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $561,545, or 22.3 percent, in 2018.
