City of Prospect Heights issued the following announcement on July 19.
No more clothing donations will be accepted.
In response to the tremendous outpouring of requests to assist the residents affected by the River Trails fire, the City is directing relief be provided as follows:
Cash Donations: To assist the victims of the River Trails fire, individuals can provide cash donate three ways.
1) Chicago Red Cross
- Donate online: https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation
- Choose – I want to support your local Red Cross
- Donate by phone: 1-800-HELP NOW (1-800-435-7669)
- Donate by Mail: American Red Cross

2) School District 21 (Katie Samel Foundation)

- Donations directly benefit the families of District 21 students only
- Donate online: http://give.livingtree.com/c/help-whs-students-displaced-by-fire-
- Donations directly benefit the families of Wheeling High students only
