The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold the public hearing regarding e-cigarettes on Jan. 20 at the regular meeting.

Electronic cigarettes and tobacco stores will be reviewed and discussed at the public hearing at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, Jan. 20, in Buffalo Grove.

The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold the public hearing at its regular meeting.

E-cigarettes are still a relatively new product, and Illinois state law and local regulations have not caught up to the new technology. The village has been contacted by interested retailers regarding selling e-cigarettes in new and existing tobacco stores. After research by village staff, the commission is ready to hold the public hearing and hear comments from local residents.

After the public hearing, the commission will continue with its regular meeting. The commission will be updated on the workshop discussion of the proposed retail development at 20914 and 20920 N. Milwaukee. After discussing the development, the commission will hear reports from the chairman, committees and liaison.

The public will be invited to comment and ask questions about planning and zoning topics during the meeting. After hearing staff reports, the meeting will adjourn. The commission will try to address all items on the agenda by 10:30 p.m. but may defer some items until the next meeting if the discussion runs late.
