The meeting of the Sustainability Commission of Elgin, Illinois convenes at 6:15 tonight at City Hall.
The discussion on the proposed changes to the City of Elgin's solar ordinance will continue. The commission will also continue its discussion on project ideas, requirements and timelines for the Partners for Places grant proposal.
The newest member of the commission, Commissioner Scott Hajek will be introduced at tonight's meeting.
The commissioners will also receive updates from the liaison and discuss changes to Kane County's recycling events. A commissioner will be designated to call the City of Geneseo for information on their grants and solar panel installations.
The ECC Sustainability event for 2016 will be announced, with further details to be released at the meeting and at future commission meetings.
The commission will also discuss the Backyard Chickens Pilot Program presentation at tomorrow's City Council meeting, to be held at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Nationwide, urban residents are raising chickens in their efforts to become more self sufficient. The commission will continue to follow the urban farming and backyard chickens ordinance and update the council as needed.
