OPINION: Severino for Congress

Joe Severino | Severino campaign

Democrats take for granted the north suburbs of Chicago, but in this wave election year of 2022, Joe Severino stands ready to score a big upset and win the Tenth Congressional District of Illinois. Because of the macro backdrop, the weaknesses of his corrupt opponent, and Severino’s own impressive life story, this race could well end up surprising the political establishment.

The macro failures of the Biden administration suggest that even dependably blue states like Illinois are in play in 2022. Two issues regularly dominate the political agenda nationally, Immigration and Inflation…the two I’s. On both of these topics, Joe Biden -- and his allies on Capitol Hill like IL-10th Representative Brad Schneider -- inflict material harm upon the safety and prosperity of everyday citizens of America, including Chicago’s north shore.

Because of the radicalism of Biden and Schneider, America endures a de-facto open Southern border, with 1.9 million illegal crossings in 2021, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. This human tsunami of trespassers accelerates, and 2022 totals will surely surpass Biden’s dreadful first year of allowing almost unmitigated flows of uninvited illegals.

Many of these unvetted illegal migrants bring dangers to America’s streets, including in the 10th Congressional District, and all of them harm the economic vitality of American citizens, by taxing our already-stretched resources and bringing unlawful and unjust competition into the labor market.

Speaking of labor, real wages crash lower in America as the highest inflation in four decades means American workers grow poorer by the day, and work harder just to tread water economically. These inflationary forces were unleashed by Biden with a huge assist by big-spending establishment politicians – of both parties – including the corrupt incumbent Brad Schneider.

Regarding Schneider’s corruption, bold citizens of Illinois continue to press the Board of Elections for answers regarding Schneider’s clear violation of the law in his candidacy filings, claiming residency at a house where he never lived, not at the time of the application, and not now. This lie that he passed off, under oath, it matters, in part because Schneider also claimed both his actual residence and this fake residence for homestead exemptions on his property taxes. So, Schneider committed tax and election fraud simultaneously.

Leave it to an entitled politician to believe that the very rules he creates in elected office, they should only apply to the “little people,” the peasants he oversees. Because of his aloof arrogance, Schneider does not comprehend how vulnerable he is. Because of the immigration and inflation messes that Schneider and his Washington cronies create, Biden’s approval rating in Illinois plunges. In fact, per Civiqs polling, Biden moved from a +4% positive approve/disapprove ratio when he took office, to a miserable -23% approve/disapprove ratio now. A 27% net approval meltdown in just over a year is historic and reflects the understandable angst of the frustrated citizens of Chicago’s north suburbs.

In addition, redistricting changes the 10th District materially, and it is no longer just reflexively Democrat. For example, the Latino population rises to 25%, and Hispanics increasingly move politically to the Right, effectively left behind as political orphans by the radical Democrats of the 2020s. In fact, Joe Biden’s approval among Hispanic citizens stands at only 26% in a recent Quinnipiac University poll, the lowest for any demographic group in America.

The “bad hombres” and Latinas of the Chicago suburbs will rally to the agenda and biography of Joe Severino. A fearless outsider, he brings the approach of a successful entrepreneur to his run for office. He has regularly and boldly advocated for children and the rights of parents to fight back against indoctrination in schools. On this topic and others, Joe represents the antithesis of swamp insider Schneider. For instance, Joe pledges to donate his salary back to the people once elected. In this race, Severino channels the fighting spirit he displayed as a highly ranked Chicago Golden Gloves boxer in his youth. Joe is the fighter Illinois needs and deserves and has my enthusiastic support.
