State Rep. Thomas Morrison (R-Palatine) was not the least bit surprised by the massive number of people who recently descended on the Illinois State Capitol for a pro-life rally.
“There are people that I have talked to who are pro-choice who are uncomfortable with the state going down that road,” Morrison told North Cook News, referring to two controversial abortion bills introduced by Democratic lawmakers.
One of the bills proposes to repeal the Illinois’ parental notification law that stipulates a parent or guardian must be notified before a minor can legally undergo an abortion procedure.

“I think they are very, very extreme,” Morrison said of the legislation. “It was encouraging to see so many concerned citizens come to Springfield [in protest of the bills]. I would [suggest that opponents of the bill] stay engaged, continue to contact your state representatives and senators and urge them to vote No on this legislation.”
Local Bishop Thomas John Paprocki was one of the speakers at the rally in Springfield, exalting the crowd with cries of opposition to the bills.
“The abortion debate boils down to the Fifth Commandment: Thou shalt not kill,” he said.
Later, Paprocki told the crowd he believes the Democratic Party has now become “the party of abortion,” with newly elected Gov. J.B. Pritzker having vowed “to make Illinois the most pro-abortion state in this country.”
