Tomorrow's Park Ridge FY17 budget workshop will focus on the Public Works budget.

Tomorrow's Park Ridge FY17 budget workshop will focus on the Public Works budget.

The City of Park Ridge will hold its first budget workshop at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Feb. 18.

The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers at 505 Butler Place.

The budget workshops are held from January through March each year. The meetings are special Finance Committee of the Whole meetings, designed to review revenue projections and expenditures, including personnel costs, debt service and contracts. The city manager and staff will compile the results and prepare a budget, due at the first City Council meeting in April.

After reviewing and updating the scorecard, the committee will review the Public Works portion of the budget. The items up for review and discussion are the general, motor fuel, muni waste, sewer and water funds. All funds must be balanced, except the motor equipment replacement fund (MERF). If necessary, monies may be transferred to ensure that each fund is balanced between revenue, funding sources and expenditures.

The remaining budget workshops are scheduled for Feb. 29, March 10 and March 23. The City Council will hold a public hearing and approve the budget at its April 18 meeting.
