In recent online communications, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi of Illinois has made several pointed remarks and calls for action, primarily addressing national security and public health concerns. The Congressman used social media to highlight his views on Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and significant budget cuts impacting public services.

On March 26, 2025, Krishnamoorthi criticized Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth for reportedly mishandling classified information. In a statement shared on social media, Krishnamoorthi expressed concern: "Classified information is classified for a reason. Sec. Hegseth was openly sharing classified materials on an insecure channel that potentially endangered service members. And then he lied about it. He should resign."

The following day, March 27, 2025, Krishnamoorthi announced a public rally in collaboration with IL Veterans for Change. The rally aimed to demand the resignation of Secretary Hegseth due to the aforementioned security lapses. The Congressman’s social media post read: "Today at 3:30, IL Veterans for Change and I will hold a public rally at Daley Plaza demanding the immediate resignation of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth for endangering American service members by mishandling classified information and then lying to the country about it."

Later on March 27, 2025, Krishnamoorthi expressed concerns over job cuts in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). These cuts potentially affect essential services like healthcare access and public health research. He stated: "Cutting 20,000 jobs from HHS puts Illinoisans at risk by undermining our ability to provide access to health care, track opioid overdoses, inspect our food and drugs, and research diseases like cancer. These cuts make America sicker and unhealthier again."
