Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Illinois’ 8th district since 2017, shared his thoughts on several issues through a series of tweets. His remarks touch upon economic concerns, a recent loss in Congress, and the celebration of Women's History Month.
On March 5, 2025, Congressman Krishnamoorthi expressed concern over rising grocery prices affecting residents of Illinois. He remarked that "High grocery prices are among the top priorities for Illinoisans, and at this rate it will be cheaper to buy a magazine for an AK-47 than breakfast." He questioned when the Trump administration would take action regarding these escalating costs.
Later that day, Krishnamoorthi conveyed his condolences following the death of Congressman Sylvester Turner. On March 5, he stated "I'm shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Congressman Sylvester Turner. Though we only served together for two months, I knew Rep. Turner as a dedicated public servant committed to fighting for the people of Houston."
The next day, on March 6, he turned his attention to Women's History Month. In his tweet, he emphasized the importance of recognizing women's contributions by saying "As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we honor and uplift the incredible achievements of women and girls everywhere." He affirmed his commitment to advocating for greater equality alongside fellow members of Congress.
