Village of South Barrington President and Board of Trustees Met May 7.

CALL TO ORDER 

Mayor McCombie called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Deputy Clerk Moeller called roll and a quorum was noted present. 

Officials Present: President: Paula McCombie

Trustees: Joseph Abbate, Edgar Alvarado, Bernard Kerman, Dr. Anthony Stagno 

Officials Absent: Clerk: Donna Wood

Trustees: Dr. Hina Patel, Stephen Guranovich 

Staff Present:       Administrator Robert Palmer, Chief of Police Thomas Roman, Executive Assistant/Deputy Clerk Melissa Moeller

Others Present: None. 

PUBLIC COMMENT

Mayor McCombie invited members of the public to address the committee. Hearing none, the meeting proceeded with the published agenda items. 

AGENDA ITEMS 

A. Discussion on VA Columbarium Proclamation: Mayor McCombie stated there was an inquiry for a proclamation to be written up for the veterans to take down to Springfield. Mayor McCombie asked the Board to think of some ideas for the Village in providing veteran outreach services at Village Hall. The Board discussed various ideas, which included sponsoring an event with the Arboretum of South Barrington, Willow Creek Community Church, and Barrington Area Council on Aging (BACOA). The Mayor asked for a consensus among the board members about writing a proclamation as well as looking into offering Village Hall for veteran outreach services in the future. The Board was in agreement with writing a proclamation and offering Village Hall for future outreach and/or registration events. 

B. Motion Regarding Wage and Bonus for Certain Employees: Mayor McCombie reviewed salary increases for certain employees with the Board. Additional questions were raised about the effects a salary increase has on pensions. Move by Trustee Kerman to Table a Motion Regarding Wage and Bonus for Certain Employees. Seconded by Trustee Stagno. Motion tabled by unanimous voice vote.

MAYOR'S REPORT

Mayor McCombie reviewed the following items:

• Planner John Houseal will take a look at the current South Barrington Park District which is current in contract for sale to McNaughton Development.

• Village Attorneys are writing up an ordinance for the Village to opt-out of the Cook County Tenant Landlord Ordinance which will go into effect June 1, 2021. 

• Hillwood is in discussion with European company to buyout 27 acres of the former Allstate property for development.

• Discussion with NIMEC and possibly going to bid after being informed that Arlington Heights received funds due to contract with McSquared.

• Administrative Adjudication was over 3 hours long in discussion with owners of 12 Lakeside and no determination has been made yet regarding penalties.

None.

ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, Trustee Kerman moved to adjourn the meeting at 4:34 p.m. Seconded by Trustee Stagno. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
