Arlington Heights FD responds to 152 fires in 2018

Arlington Heights Fire District responded to 1325 calls in 2018 - 6.4 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Arlington Heights included 152 fires - 92 structure fires, 16 vehicle fires and 44 other fires. The fire department also responded to eight calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $3,440,247 in fire loss - or about $22,633 per fire.

The department also received 1165 false calls, including 28 malicious calls and 1137 other false calls.

The Arlington Heights Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 106 active employees and 108 retired or inactive employees, was $6,361,771 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $42,412 for every fire in 2017.
