Hanover Park FD responds to 106 fires in 2018

Hanover Park Fire District responded to 328 calls in 2018 - 2.7 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Hanover Park included 106 fires - 81 structure fires, 10 vehicle fires and 15 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $549,782 in fire loss - or about $5,187 per fire.

The department also received 220 false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents and two were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Hanover Park Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 35 active employees and 34 retired or inactive employees, was $746,997 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $7,470 for every fire in 2017.
