Illinois State House District 55 issued the following announcement on April 29
State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is informing residents of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s decision to extend the stay-at-home order through May 30 and explaining some of the new guidelines within the order responding to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
“Many residents are feeling anxious and struggling in these trying times, but our first and foremost concern must be the health and protection of everyone in our community,” Moylan said. “We need to listen to medical experts and do everything we can to keep Illinoisans safe before we prematurely relax the protective measures in place.”
The adjusted stay-at-home order will go into effect on May 1 and last through May 30 with modifications to the existing order. Individuals above the age of two, who are medically able, must wear a face covering in public places where six feet of distance cannot be maintained, including all indoor public areas. Essential businesses must provide workers with face coverings and adhere to social distancing measures such as staggering work shifts and occupancy limits.
Other changes will permit additional functions to businesses and residents. State parks will begin a phased reopening. Fishing and boating with two people or less will be permitted. Golf courses will be allowed to operate under strict guidelines. Nurseries, greenhouses, garden centers and animal groomers will be permitted to reopen and must adhere to the new social distancing and face covering measures. Retail stores will be allowed to fulfill online and telephone orders by delivery and curbside pick-up.
“If the stay home order were lifted, there would be a significant rise in cases and put many lives at risk, undermining the objective of these protective measures,” Moylan said. “The measures in place are working, and the new order granting additional flexibility gives us all cause to stay strong and continue following the direction of these experts.”
