ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 55: Moylan Highlights Needs of Shelters, Food Pantries during COVID-19 Crisis

55

Illinois State House District 55 issued the following announcement on April 10

Amidst the COVID-19 public health crisis, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is urging residents to donate or help out at local food pantries and shelters in their time of need.

“The populations these organizations serve are at risk during this unprecedented health crisis,” Moylan said. “During times of crisis people need to band together to help those who are struggling, especially when it concerns something as essential as food and shelter.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many shelters and food pantries are struggling with finding enough supplies and protective equipment, securing volunteers and other financial challenges. Moylan is asking residents to help out in any way they can during this time whether it be a financial contribution, volunteering or other needed donations. Ways to get involved and help out local institutions can be found at the websites listed below.

Catholic Charities https://www.ccofchicagovolunteer.com, the Greater Chicago Food Depository at https://www.chicagosfoodbank.org/get-involved/, the Salvation Army https://centralusa.salvationarmy.org/desplaines/ and the Harbour at https://theharbour.org.

“I am urging all those who can to help out to please do so,” Moylan said. “The services these institutions provide are incredibly vital now more than ever.”
