City of Evanston issued the following announcement on Aug. 21.
Due to seasonal lifeguard and beach staff returning to school, the City of Evanston has announced changes to swimming and beach office hours at several locations.
South Boulevard Beach will be closed for swimming from Monday, August 26 through Friday, August 30 between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The beach will remain open for sand activities during these hours, and will be open for swimming from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Clark Street Beach Office will operate on a limited schedule from Monday, August 26 though the remainder of the summer season. The beach will remain open for normal swimming hours; however, credit card payment for admission may not be available.
Lee Street, Greenwood Street, Clark Street and Lighthouse Beaches will be open for normal swimming hours, 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., August 26-30. In addition, all five public swimming beaches will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. throughout Labor Day weekend, Saturday, August 31 through Monday, September 2.
Evanston residents can take advantage of the final free beach day of the season at Clark Street Beach on Monday, August 26.
Boats, kayaks and paddle boards may have extended rental hours on weekdays. To inquire about daily hours, call the Dempster Street Beach Office at 847-866-4167.
