Former state school employee Lovda paid in $116K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $1.72M in retirement

Former state school employee Diane Lovda, who retired in May 2018, saved $116,224 toward a pension over 17 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Lovda would collect as much as $1.72 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes North Cook News.

The projection assumes Lovda received $36,218 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Lovda will have already received $151,524 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
