Skokie School District 69 students suspended 22 times in a single school year

Skokie School District 69 reported 22 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 22 students during the year. That equates to 1.3 percent of the 1,705 students enrolled.

Of the 18 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for violence that caused physical injury. The category includes 17 incidents. There were one incidents of alcohol. For 13 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence that caused physical injury. The category includes four incidents. For three incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
