Variances for 734 S. Bristol Lane and 813 S. Chestnut Ave. were on the agenda of the Arlington Heights Zoning Board of Appeals meeting on March 14.

The board meets at the Village Hall, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road, at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month.

Applicants Glen and Katie Schneider requested variances to allow the construction of a pool house at 734 S. Bristol Lane. The pool house plans show a 480-square-foot structure. The maximum allowed under code is 300 square feet. The applicants also requested a one-foot variance along the side property line, which would leave a seven-foot setback instead of the required eight feet. The board reviewed and discussed the request, staff report and supporting documents and drawings.

The board also reviewed a petition from Robert and Lauren Haas for a variance to construct a 7.9-foot-wide driveway at 813 S. Chestnut Ave. The driveway would lead to a proposed detached garage in the backyard. The code requires a nine-foot-wide driveway. The house is for sale and approval for a driveway variance would increase the salability of the home. Neighboring homes also have garages in the backyards.
