Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, representing Illinois' 8th district in the U.S. Congress, has been vocal on various social and political issues through his recent tweets. On November 20, 2024, he expressed gratitude for receiving the Champion of Freedom award from Sebastien Lai and the #FreeJimmyLai campaign. He stated, "Thank you to Sebastien Lai and the #FreeJimmyLai campaign for this Champion of Freedom award, and also for your continued pursuit of freedom for those wrongfully detained in Hong Kong. It is an honor to fight alongside you."

Later that day, Krishnamoorthi commemorated Transgender Day of Remembrance with a message of support for the trans community. In his tweet at 21:10 UTC, he said, "Today, as we mark Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor all the trans and non-binary Americans who have lost their lives to hate and violence. As Vice-Chair of the @EqualityCaucus, I am committed to standing up for everyone in the trans community."

In another statement posted at 22:44 UTC on November 20, Congressman Krishnamoorthi criticized Speaker Johnson's decision regarding restroom use by transgender individuals. He asserted his disagreement by stating, "As Vice Chair of the @EqualityCaucus, I disagree wholeheartedly with Speaker Johnson’s decision to prohibit Rep-elect McBride, and all transgender individuals, from using the restroom that aligns with their identity." He further commented on some Republicans' anti-LGBTQ agendas.
