Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, representing Illinois' 8th district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently shared his thoughts on several topics via social media. Born in New Delhi, India, and a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard University, Krishnamoorthi resides in Schaumburg. His posts address issues ranging from freedom of the press to disaster preparedness.

On November 19, 2024, Congressman Krishnamoorthi emphasized the critical role of journalists in maintaining democracy. He stated: "Without journalists, freedom of the press doesn’t exist. Without freedom of the press, democracy doesn’t exist. Today we commemorate International Journalist's Remembrance Day to honor all those reporters who held truth to power all over the world."

The following day, November 20, 2024, he addressed misinformation about FEMA during an Oversight Democrats hearing: "I uncovered a major piece of information during the @OversightDems hearing yesterday: Despite what some say online, @FEMA does not control the weather."

Later that day, Congressman Krishnamoorthi highlighted concerns about child care centers during disasters: "When disaster strikes, child care centers based in providers homes are often left behind. If massive flooding happened in the Chicago area, thousands of child care providers would be in trouble. I’m committed to working with @FEMA to make sure we have a plan."
