Update on Adrian's Lego project presented at March 7 City Council meeting.
The Des Plaines City Council met on March 7 to hear updates on Adrian Menzel's Lego project, as well as a presentation on branding and marketing from the Ad Hoc Committee.
Menzel has been collecting Legos to send to needy children in Guatemala. He first presented his project to the council on July 20. His efforts in 2015 included drop boxes at the library, fire stations and the police station for Lego donations. With his project complete, Menzel presented the final results to the council.
The Ad Hoc Committee also updated the council on its progress in engaging the community in the process of branding and revitalization of Des Plaines. A Google group and Facebook page are among the ways residents and businesses can join in discussions regarding Des Plaines.
The city clerk announced that one bid was received for the Barracuda backup server and one bid for streetlight repair and utilities. After dispensing with the Consent Agenda, the council reconvened to discuss state funding reductions on service agencies and amendments to the city code regarding ambulance transport fees.
Finally, the city council reconvened to discuss the ambulance fee ordinance and an ordinance regarding the salaries and compensation of elected officials.
