A proposed bicycle parking ordinance will be discussed at the Arlington Heights Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) meeting at 7:30 p.m. today in the Village Hall Community Room, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road.

At the previous meeting, an extensive discussion was held regarding the proposed ordinance. The discussion included whether schools should be included and the number of bicycle spaces that might be required to accommodate bicycle-riding students. One proposal suggested two bike parking spaces for every classroom in schools of over 100 students and at least 10 spaces for smaller schools. The question of bike parking at schools was deferred to tonight's meeting to allow the commission to ask school officials for their recommendations.

A proposal on wayfinding signs also was carried over to tonight's meeting from the Dec. 1 meeting, when locations, a proposed pedestrian network and signage designs were discussed. At tonight's meeting, the commission is expected to review ideas, sign styles and sketches for proposed signs.

The public is invited to attend BPAC meetings. Anyone with a disability who requires reasonable accommodations or has questions about the building's accessibility can contact Disability Services Coordinator David Robb at 847-368-5793 or email him at drobb@vah.com.
