Streamwood board approves 2015 tax levies and 2016 operating budget

The regular board of trustees meeting of Streamwood, Illinois took place on Dec. 3.

After calling the meeting to order, the board moved on to reports. Under the President's Report, Marilyn Pettersen was appointed to the Blood Commission for a one-year term. The Village Manager reported that the Village's bond rating is a solid AA rating.

The meeting minutes for the public hearings and regular board meeting on Nov. 19 were all approved.

Under Community Development, the board heard the first reading for the special-use permit for the Crazy Crab Restaurant. Presented for second reading and approval under the Legislative report were the 2015 property tax levy and the 2015 special service area tax levy. The semi-monthly expenditures, 2016 Operating and Capital Improvements Budget and an amendment to the ordinance for water and sewer rates were approved under the Finance report.

The Luminaria 2015 was announced under Community Affairs. The 31st annual event was held on Dec. 4.

Under Public Works, the board approved the bid from AL Warren Oil Co. and authorized the purchase of gas and diesel for 2016, 2017 and 2018. The fourth annual Holiday Helping Program was discussed under Public Safety. Nineteen families and 47 children were sponsored this year for a shopping trip at a local business with firefighters, police, Village officials and staff.

The board adjourned to closed session to discuss collective bargaining and negotiations.
