The Village of Buffalo Grove, Illinois Planning and Zoning Commission will meet and discuss the Economic Development Strategic Plan and e-cigarettes.
The Planning and Zoning Commission regular meeting will be held on Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m.in the Jeffrey S. Braiman Council Chambers at 50 Raupp Blvd.
After calling the meeting to order and holding roll call, the commission will hold public hearings as needed. Following any public hearings, the commission will review and approve the Nov. 4 public hearing minutes and the regular meeting minutes of the same date.
The commission will hear the update for the Economic Development Strategic Plan. The plan, which is intended to help the Village's long-term economic growth, is in its final stages. Before the plan is finalized, Village staff would like the commission's input.
The commission will also discuss e-cigarettes and tobacco shops. Because e-cigarettes are a recent product, state law and Village codes do not address their sale. E-cigarettes provide a flavored vapor rather than smoke, which contains nicotine. While retailers are interested in opening e-cigarette stores, Village staff from various departments collaborated and determined that the Village code requires clarification regarding e-cigarettes and retailers.
After hearing the chairman's and committee and liaison reports, the committee will review the future agenda schedule. Public comments and staff reports will also be heard before the meeting is adjourned.
