Half of suburban Chicago’s 200 highest tax-paying commercial properties are in northern Cook County, according to a Local Government Information Services (LGIS) analysis of property tax data from the Cook County Treasurer's Office. Collectively, these 100 properties contributed $227 million to Cook County’s public funds, which go toward municipal salaries and local school districts.
