James Richard Garoppolo born November 2, 1991, in Arlington Heights

James Richard Garoppolo, born on November 2, 1991, in Arlington Heights, Illinois, is an American football quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams. He gained recognition playing college football at Eastern Illinois, where he set records and won the Walter Payton Award. Drafted by the New England Patriots in 2014, Garoppolo contributed to two Super Bowl victories. He later played for the San Francisco 49ers, leading them to Super Bowl LIV and the NFC Championship Game in 2021. Garoppolo's career has been marked by both success and injuries. After a stint with the Las Vegas Raiders, he joined the Los Angeles Rams in 2024.

Bernard E. Pedersen was born on November 24, 1925, in Grinnell, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during World War II. After the war, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College. Pedersen owned an insurance business in Palatine, Illinois. He became active in local politics and was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives as a Republican in 1982. He served continuously until his death. Pedersen was reelected shortly before passing away from cancer on November 6, 1996, in Palatine. During his time in office, he worked on legislation and represented his community at the state level. He maintained strong ties to Palatine through his business and public service. His life reflected both military and civic commitment. Pedersen is remembered in Palatine for his contributions to local business and government, and for his long-term service as a state representative.
