Christine Cabrera of Rolling Meadows was among 733 students to receive named scholarships at Baldwin Wallace University this fall. Cabrera, a graduate of Buffalo Grove High School and a voice performance major, received the E.S. & M.R. Griffiths Scholarship and the Earl S. Buck Scholarship.
Baldwin Wallace University reports that it has more than 475 named scholarships funded by alumni, faculty, trustees, and friends, providing over $5 million in aid to students each year. The university stated these scholarships support students in attending, persisting, and graduating from BW while continuing the legacy of their donors. Requirements for these scholarships vary and may include financial need, field of study, campus involvement, or demonstrated excellence in a particular area. For the 2025-2026 academic year, BW will offer $53.8 million in financial support to its students.
Founded in 1845, Baldwin Wallace University was one of the first colleges to admit students regardless of race or gender. The independent institution enrolls about 3,300 students and offers coursework in more than 60 academic areas. Located in Berea, near Cleveland, the university provides access to cultural, educational, and business opportunities found in a major metropolitan area.
