Lia Baker, a Psychology student from Inverness, Illinois, will perform with the Whitewater Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater during the 2025-26 academic year. Baker plays bass for the ensemble, which consists of 43 student musicians.

The orchestra is part of the university's Department of Music and participates annually in the UW-Whitewater Gala Concert. This event features nearly every student ensemble in the department, with all profits supporting scholarships.

The Whitewater Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra is the flagship orchestra at UW-Whitewater. It is open to string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players, and membership requires an audition. The group performs classical literature and holds 2-3 concerts each semester, as well as semi-annual tours. The repertoire includes standard symphonic masterworks and a range of works from the classical period to the present. Each year, student concerto soloists are selected through an annual competition, and music faculty make guest solo appearances.

The Department of Music at UW-Whitewater, part of the College of Arts and Communication, prepares students for careers in performance, composing, teaching, and other music-related fields. University ensembles have performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York City, Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Symphony Center in Chicago, and locations in Germany, Poland, and England.
