Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, who represents Illinois' 8th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared his views on social programs and economic policies through a series of tweets. The congressman, known for his educational background from Princeton University and Harvard University, has been serving since 2017 after succeeding Tammy Duckworth.

On February 4, 2025, Congressman Krishnamoorthi expressed his firm stance against any reductions to key social welfare programs. He stated unequivocally: "No cuts to Medicare. No cuts to Medicaid. No cuts to Social Security."

Later that day, he commented on the economic impact of tariffs imposed by former President Trump. Referring to insights from a prominent Republican figure, he tweeted: "Take it from former Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell: Americans will pay more for goods because of Trump’s tariffs."

In another tweet posted on the same day, Congressman Krishnamoorthi highlighted an article by fellow representative Hoan Huynh. He described it as a significant piece about American values: "A powerful piece by my friend ⁦@RepHoanHuynh⁩ on standing up for our values as Americans."
