Approve the Resolution of Appreciation for Greg Solberg - Motion Carried by Voice Vote

Mayor Schwantz thanked Greg Solberg for his 37 years of service to the Village of Palatine, serving as Councilman for District 4. The Mayor presented Greg with a Resolution of Appreciation, noting that during his tenure the population of Palatine nearly doubled, thriving commercial areas were created, and infrastructure has greatly improved.

Motion to Approve the Resolution of Appreciation of Paul Mehring - Motion Carried by Voice Vote

Mayor Schwantz presented Finance Director Paul Mehring a Resolution of Appreciation for serving the Village of Palatine as Finance Department Director for 28 years and guiding Palatine through the challenging years of the 2008 recession and 2020 pandemic to a debt free position in 2024.

Holiday Light Recycling Program

The Village of Palatine, in partnership with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) and Elgin Recycling, is pleased to offer a Holiday Light Recycling Program now until January 31, 2025. Holiday string lights can be dropped off at the Palatine Village Hall, Village Services Counter (first floor), Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.

In observance of the holidays, Village offices will be closed

Wednesday, December 25 and Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

1. Consider a Motion Approving a Water Service Agreement with Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church of Palatine at 1449 N. Quentin Road - Approved by Voice Vote

Planning & Zoning Director Ben Vyverberg recommended approving a Water Service Agreement with Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church at 1449 N. Quentin Road in unincorporated Palatine and explained that additions to the structure require a fire suppression sprinkler, which requires access to Village water service and disconnect from current well service.

1. Consider a Motion to Extend the Contract for Janitorial Maintenance Services for the Police Headquarters and Combined Service Facility - Approved by Voice Vote

Public Works Director Matt Barry recommended approving a Janitorial Maintenance Services Agreement for the Police Headquarters and Combined Service Facility with Ultra Cleaning including a 3.1% and 3.2% increase respectively, for the two-year contract covering 2025-2026.

2. Consider a Motion to Extend the Contract for Janitorial Maintenance Services for the Village Hall, Palatine Metra Train Station, and Gateway Center Parking Deck - Approved by Voice Vote

Public Works Director Matt Barry recommended approving a Janitorial Maintenance Services Agreement with Harvard Maintenance for Palatine Village Hall, Train Station and Gateway Center Parking Deck. This is the second and final renewal covering 2025-2026 with a 5% increase. Due to a reduction in commuter traffic, staff recommends continuing the reduced afternoon hours at the train station and parking deck, maintaining the Village option to add hours back if warranted.
