T.J. Brown, Chair of the Northfield Republicans, expressed concerns over rising prices for essentials such as food, gas, and housing under the Biden-Harris administration. He contrasted this with what he described as greater economic stability during former President Trump's tenure. Brown shared his statement with North Cook News on October 17.

"Under Biden and Harris, the cost of everyday necessities like food, gas, and housing has surged, far exceeding what Americans experienced under Trump," said Brown, Chairman. "Many families are finding it increasingly difficult to manage their budgets and afford basic needs. Under President Trump, inflation was far better managed, allowing citizens to live without the constant pressure of rising prices. Americans deserve a stable economy where they can afford a decent life, not one where they're overwhelmed by ever-growing costs."

According to NBC News, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 2.4% over a 12-month period ending in September, slightly above expectations but a decrease from August's 2.5%. Monthly growth was recorded at 0.2%, driven by food and shelter costs. Grocery prices saw an increase of 1.3%, particularly in meat and eggs, while dining out expenses rose by 3.9%. Housing costs experienced a year-on-year rise of 4.9%. Core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, went up by 0.3%. Despite moderating inflation rates, households continue to adjust to a cumulative increase of 21% since 2020. The report also indicated that stock markets eased and jobless claims increased slightly, leading to heightened expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut.

The Heritage Foundation reported that inflation has risen by 20% under President Biden compared to an 8% increase during Trump's presidency. Inflation surged from 1.4% when Biden took office to 9.1% within eighteen months, with mortgage rates doubling from 2.9% to 7%. The average deficit under Biden is $1.5 trillion compared to $750 billion under Trump (excluding COVID-19 years). The foundation highlighted Trump's disinflationary policies such as tax cuts, deregulation, and energy production as more successful than Biden's approach involving higher taxes, regulation, and spending on green energy programs.

Brown has been serving as Chair of the Northfield Township Republicans since his election in 2018. As Chair, he focuses on increasing Republican voter turnout, expanding party membership, and communicating the party's positions on issues important to voters in Northfield Township.
