Village of South Barrington Police Commission met Aug. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

CALL TO ORDER 

Commissioner Michonski called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M.

ROLL CALL 

Members Present: Commissioner Neal Patel and Commissioner Kenneth Michonski

Members Absent: Chairwoman Dr. Shireesha Carse 

Staff Present: Trustee Joseph Abbate, Police Chief Thomas Roman and Deputy Chief Mike Garrison

PUBLIC COMMENT 

Commissioner Michonski invited members of the public to address the committee. Hearing none, the meeting proceeded with the published agenda items.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES 

Commissioner Patel made motion to approve the Police Commission Meeting Minutes from the May 22, 2023 open meeting and the executive session minutes for May 22, 2023. Seconded by Commissioner Michonski. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

OLD BUSINESS 

Commissioner Michonski asked if there was any old business to discuss. Hearing none, the meeting proceeded with the published agenda items.

NEW BUSINESS 

Chief Roman explained to the Commission that we would need to schedule an Entry-level Police Officer Test. The Commissioners gave their approval to schedule the test. Chief Roman also stated there would be three interviews today. The Commission prepared for the interviews for police officers.

EXECUTIVE SESSION to consider Appointment, Employment and Compensation Pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(1).

Commissioner Patel made a motion to go into closed session for the purposes of conducting interviews with police candidates at 5:39 P.M. Seconded by Commissioner Michonski. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

At 7:36 P.M., Commissioner Michonski made a motion to close executive session. Commissioner Patel seconded. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. 

At 7:36 P.M., Commissioner Michonski made a motion to go into open session. Commissioner Patel seconded. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

OTHER BUSINESS 

Commissioner Michonski asked if there was any other business to discuss. Hearing none, the Commissioners proceeded with the other published agenda items.

ADJOURNMENT 

Commissioner Michonski made a motion to adjourn the Police Commission meeting at 7:37 P.M. Seconded by Commissioner Patel. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
