During its Oct. 24 meeting, the Wilmette Public Schools Board of Education received an update about the most recent Facility Committee meeting.
During the meeting, streamed live on YouTube, board member Frank Panzica told board members that the committee focused on 2023 summer construction planning and contractor Nicholas and Associates is about 60% done.

The company expects to consider pre-purchasing equipment. Items like chillers are on back order.
In the absence of the committee chairperson, board member Amy Poehling provided an update for the Finance Committee, noting that the group is finishing its work on the 2021 tax levy, and noted the Cook County Assessor’s Office is set to send tax dues this month, She also noted that the financial numbers show District 39 is in stable fiscal shape and should not have to consider short-term borrowing.
Board member Lisa Schneider-Faber updated the board on the Strategy Committee meeting, including a report on grade level objectives, resources, assessment tools, and curricular supports developed last year. She also noted there has been a review of work on the transition of students from fourth to fifth grade and that information will be used as they prepare for the next group of students.
“Thank you to everyone for their hard work on these initiatives, as well as for the informative updates on progress,” Schneider-Faber concluded.
