Barrington born Boston mayor decries white residents for ‘problems’

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is blaming white people for “problems” in the city.

“For 100 days, we have connected unhoused residents at mass and cast to housing, treatment and services. We've launched three free bus lines. We've taken some big, bold actions, but I won't lie. This past winter was pretty intense. Trial by snow. Trial by Firefighters Union. I'm getting used to dealing with problems that are expensive, disruptive and white. I'm talking about snowflakes, snowflakes. I mean, snowstorm snowflakes,” said in a St. Patrick’s Day address.

Wu is the first minority woman to be elected as Boston’s mayor.

The 37-year-old was born to Taiwanese immigrants on Chicago’s Southside before moving to Barrington where she was raised, according to a post on Daily Herald. Her father attended the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Part of Wu's campaign was based on racial justice. She told KSWB that "Racial justice is deeply embedded in every policy decision we need to make."

Wu faced steep criticism for Covid protocols, including the use of vaccine passports, Daily Mail reported. Vaccine mandates were required for indoor eating, bars, companies, schools, and city workers were imposed as a result of her actions.

Public sector unions fought back against her attempts at force vaccination. Boston's police and fire unions sued Wu over the mandate, and an appeals court temporarily suspended the policy as the dispute proceeded, as she mentioned in her speech, Daily Mail reported.
